The Thick-billed Murre (Uria lomvia) is closely related to the Common Murre, and easily recognized by their white bill stripe.  They live in the often vast colonies on rocky cliffs, laying their single egg on a narrow, crowded ledges.  Chicks leave the colony after only a few weeks. These small chicks are unable to fly, and jump often huge heights from their nest down to the ocean!  They are accompanied by their dad and continued to be fed at sea for another couple of months.
