The 2022 St George Art and Seabird Camp will feature several newly-invented paper crafts, a simulated sea monitoring activity and a mural themed “St. George in My Eyes.”

I arrived on St. George on the first try! I always feel so lucky when that happens. Walking around town, the place seems so familiar. Some buildings are showing the effects of weather and the passing of years. I was last here for Art Camp in 2016.  I immediately climbed the small hill to the water tower to see how the mural from that year was holding up. Surprisingly well! The colors on the birds have faded away from exposure, but the black and white paints are holding up just fine. It seems appropriate that a scene from the past should linger only in black and white. It’s a lively scene featuring larger-than-life depictions of the island’s seabirds. This year we will be painting indoors and our work should last for a very long time.
