The Crested Auklet (Aethia cristatella) nests in the Bering Sea and Sea of Okhotsk. Like the other auklets, Crested Auklets lay their single egg in a rocky crevice. Colonies are often huge (over one million birds), and may be mixed with the smaller Least Auklet. Crested Auklets are known for their striking forehead crests, and they also produce a social scent during the breeding season which has been described as smelling like tangerines!!
