Seabird Camp on St. George had an unplanned start. The plane carrying Ann and Peter circled the island a few times, but it was too foggy to land and they had to return all the way back to Anchorage (an 11 hour round trip!). This is not unusual for St. George at this time of year.
Meanwhile, the kids on the island were eagerly awaiting Seabird Camp and, unfazed, Karin and Abram stepped in to lead seabird activities for a few days. THANK YOU both!
Yesterday, everyone learnt about invasive species and the rat prevention program on St. George. They also enjoyed playing “Chicks and Splatters”, Ram’s seabird version of “Shoots and Ladders” that includes pitfalls such as loosing your data book over the cliff (slide down the board) and rewards such as seeing a rare bird (climb a ladder).
