Several scientists arrived on St. Paul by plane to meet up with the boat. They were gracious enough to come to our Seabird Camp kickoff on Saturday afternoon. Scientists, staff, and community families were able to enjoy some halibut chowder, biscuits, and brownies while listening to overviews of the local YCC projects , Seabird Camp plans and summer research goals. The St. Matthew scientists described their work with McKay’s Bunting and Rock Sandpiper. Locals showed great interest in what is happening with St. Paul’s seabirds and a lively discussion revealed anxiety about changes to the local wildlife.
